Healthcare Wastewater Disposal for Hospitals, Senior Living and Clinics
Healthcare Wastewater Disposal for the Domestic Side of the Building
American Bioclean provides healthcare wastewater disposal for hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living communities, surgery centers and clinics across East Central Florida. We take the domestic side of what a healthcare building produces: septage from facilities on septic, grease trap waste from patient and staff kitchens, and biosolids from campuses running their own small treatment plants. All of it is treated at our DEP-permitted facility in New Smyrna Beach.
We do not take medical waste of any kind. That line is set by our permits, and this page is clear about where it falls, because a facility that is inspected as often as yours needs a disposal partner that is just as clear.

What a Healthcare Facility Can Send Us
- Septage from hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and assisted living communities on septic systems, pumped by your licensed contractor
- Grease trap waste from patient, cafeteria and staff kitchens, collected by our sister company, North East Treatment
- Biosolids from a campus running its own small domestic treatment plant, once a signed agreement is on file
If a load is domestic, the chances are good that we can take it. If you are not sure, call before it is pumped.
What We Cannot Take
Our permits cover domestic waste, and nothing about a healthcare setting changes that. We cannot accept:
- Biomedical waste of any kind, including sharps and red-bag waste
- Pharmaceutical waste and unused medications
- Laboratory, chemical and sterilization waste
- Anything else that comes from a clinical process rather than a restroom or a kitchen
Biomedical waste is regulated separately in Florida and has to go with a company licensed to handle it. If a tank or trap could have received anything from a lab or a clinical area, raise it on the phone before the truck is sent. It is a short call, and far better than a refused load.
Biosolids from an On-Site Treatment Plant
Some hospitals and larger senior living campuses run their own small treatment plants. The biosolids those plants produce are tracked by the Florida DEP from pickup to drop-off, so the paperwork comes first:
- Call us before the first load.
- The plant’s operator or manager signs our one-page biosolids agreement. That is the whole agreement.
- Your hauler collects the biosolids on a signed hauling manifest.
- The load is dropped off here and recorded, which completes the record from your plant to ours.
About 80 facilities already have an agreement on file with us. Read more about biosolids disposal.
Kitchens Are a Job for Our Sister Company
Grease trap service for hospital and senior living kitchens is handled by North East Treatment, on (386) 843-0497, from this same address. What they collect is treated here, at a permitted facility owned by the same family, so the chain of custody from your kitchen to final treatment is two sister companies and nobody else.
North East Treatment collects used cooking oil from your kitchens too, and it is processed into renewable fuel rather than disposed of. That is a useful line for any health system that reports on sustainability.
Records That Hold Up to an Inspection
Healthcare facilities are inspected for nearly everything, and waste is no exception. When your contractor’s loads are dumped on a tag held on the facility’s account, each load produces an itemized ticket with the date, time, truck, weight in and out, gallons and price, emailed the same evening at 7:30 PM.
Send those tickets to a shared facilities or environmental services inbox and the record survives staff changes. If you want a second pair of eyes on manifests or disposal records before a survey, our environmental compliance consulting is built for exactly that.
Senior Living and Rural Campuses
Plenty of assisted living communities, nursing homes and rural clinics across Lake, Flagler and west Volusia counties sit beyond the reach of a sewer line. Septage from those systems comes here with your pumping contractor, and dumping is open to licensed haulers from any county, so facilities further afield can use us too.
Facilities director, plant operator or environmental services manager? Call (386) 304-1870 or email info@abio.us before the first load. We will confirm what qualifies, send the biosolids agreement if you need it, and set up an account in the facility’s name.
Common Questions
No. Our permits cover domestic waste only. Biomedical, pharmaceutical, laboratory and chemical waste cannot be accepted, and in Florida biomedical waste has to go with a company licensed to handle it.
Yes. Septage from a healthcare facility’s septic system is domestic waste, and your licensed pumping contractor can bring it to us with no appointment.
Yes, once a one-page agreement signed by the plant’s operator or manager is on file. Call before the first load and we will send it over. Every load then travels on a signed hauling manifest.
Our sister company, North East Treatment, on (386) 843-0497. The grease trap waste they collect is treated here.
Yes, if the account is held in the facility’s name. Tags are issued per truck, and tickets go to the email address on the account.
