How to Choose a Wastewater Disposal Facility

Six Questions Worth Asking Before You Choose a Facility

If you haul waste for a living, the facility you dump at shapes your day more than almost any other decision you make. Drive time is the obvious factor and usually the wrong one to lead with.

Here is what actually matters, and where American Bioclean stands on each. We have tried to be straight about the places where another facility might suit you better.

Quick Facts

1. How Long Will You Actually Be There?

A facility twenty minutes away with one lane and four trucks ahead of you is slower than one forty-five minutes away where you drive straight in. Ask how many lanes a site runs before you judge it on the map.

Us: three lanes, running simultaneously. In practice a queue almost never forms, and unloading takes minutes.

2. What Happens When Your Route Runs Late?

Most facilities keep office hours. If your last job finishes at six, the load rides in your truck overnight and eats into the next morning.

Us: open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An RFID tag opens the electric gate and no call is needed. The honest caveat: because the scale is not running after hours, those loads are billed as a full load, so a part-full tank is cheaper to bring during the day.

3. How Much of Your Time Goes on Paperwork?

Weighing in, filling forms, waiting for someone in an office to process a ticket — it is rarely the biggest cost, but it is the most irritating one.

Us: the RFID system works like an E-PASS. Wave in, dump, wave out. The ticket closes itself and arrives by email at 7:30 PM with weights, gallons and price already on it.

4. Will They Take the Load, or Send You Away?

A facility running near capacity has to turn away deliveries that were not scheduled. Finding that out on arrival is an expensive way to learn it.

Us: 100,000 gallons of permitted storage, which is generally enough to absorb an unscheduled or oversized load. If your material is domestic and accepted, you leave empty.

5. Whose Compliance Record Are You Attaching Yourself To?

This is the one most people never ask about, and it is the one that can cost the most. When a facility has a problem, regulators follow the material backwards to the haulers and generators who fed it.

Us: licensed by the Florida DEP and the Volusia County Health Department, operating since 2000, with no violations. The full compliance picture is here.

6. Can They Do Anything Else You Need?

Every stop that can be combined with another is a trip you do not make twice.

Us: vacuum truck cleaning on site, which very few facilities in this region can offer at all. Book it for a morning you are already dumping and leave with a clean, empty truck.

Where Another Facility Might Suit You Better

If you are consistently running part-full tanks late at night, our after-hours full-load pricing will not be the cheapest option available to you. If you are hauling industrial or hazardous material, we cannot take it at all — our permits cover domestic waste only.

We would rather tell you that now than have you drive out here to find out.

Want to try it? Call (386) 304-1870 and we will have an RFID tag ready for your truck when you arrive — it takes about five minutes.
